Chi is as adorable as ever in Volume 7, and now she has a kitten accomplice adding to the adorableness. He is Cocchi, a stray kitten whom Chi takes to playing with and following around. In this installment, we also see Blackie and Chi gets a new housemate .

When the kitten feels all hope is lost, she is found in a park by a young boy named Yohei and his mother. After taking a tumble Yohei feels just as distraught as the kitten he sees before him, and he quickly takes comfort in feeling a sense of sympathy with the cat. And before she could even know what hit her, the little kitty was picked up and soon under the protection and care of Yohei's family--the Yamada's. Every moment of their daily life is filled with something we can all cherish. In the seventh volume of Chi's Sweet Home, the titular feline heroine of this series finds herself in her biggest predicament yet. Confused and hungry the two decide to hunt around the community for scraps as substanance.
The illustration is in keeping with previous book in this series...done is pastels and super cute. This continues to be one of my 7 year old son’s favorite books to read. Cocchi is in this book a lot more and we learn more about his history. Chi and Cocchi dodge some rain together which was cute. Then Chi eats some questionable food and struggles with her first bout of illness.
The manga has been licensed for North American distribution by Vertical Inc. An anime adaptation lasting two seasons aired from March 2008 to September 2009. A 3DCG anime television adaptation lasting two seasons aired from October 2016 to September 2018. The ending is about as close to a cliffhanger as this series gets. Given how many volumes are left in this series--likely none of which are set in kitty heaven--I'm guessing, "Yes."

Avu-chan from Queen Bee gave us some insight into their experience working on this ambitious anime project as the artist of the ending theme, "Violence." Cocchi is starting to befriend Chi and Blackie is showing Chi a neighborhood of new friends. Poor Chi gets sick but has the Yamadas and close friends. Overall, it's a humorous tale and a quick, entertaining read.
I love how the ever-pushy Chi brings out the softer side of the street-hardened Cocchi. Thank goodness big brother Blackie is always looking out for Chi. I like reading these in the morning to help me wake up. I can't understand full pages of text when I'm barely awake so this is helpful and keeps me from scrolling through my phone for and hour or two. We will certainly look for more volumes of Chi's story at our local library. This is the seventh book in the Chi's Sweet Home series. We were introduced to more characters in this story and we see that Chi is becoming more bold and adventurous. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. This volume picks up where the last one left off of. Its clear that Cocchi is a street cat and doesn't have home . But Chi follows Cocchi around anyway and despite Cocchi's tough exterior I think Cocchi likes Chi. In volume 10, Cocchi and Chi plays with two kittens that look very similar to Chi and might be her siblings. Afterwards, a woman gives him food in an alley and calls him Tiny.
